Click play above to listen to this entry! Anyway, well well, looks like I managed to get this site slammed together quite quickly! My name’s Kyle Wynen, as this site probably conveyed for me. Until I recently resigned, I was the Co-Founder, Co-CEO, Co-President, and Managing Editor of a company called Gaming Union Inc., but in all likelihood the only people reading this already know that. I’ll skip describing more about myself, as you can quite efficiently find out more on the other pages of this site.

What I will say that’s news to mostly everyone, is that now that I’ve resigned from Gaming Union, I’ve decided to take on a new dream, to establish a video game development studio over the next few years in my hometown of London, Ontario, Canada. That would otherwise sound like just a pipe dream if I hadn’t already co-founded a company before (Gaming Union), developed the business, and personally lead negotiations in securing a six-figure investment deal for that company. I have done those things however, so in the last month I’ve been working away at my plan to succeed in establishing a studio.

If you were hoping that I would be starting a new Final Fantasy, or general gaming podcast now that I’ve resigned from Gaming Union, the unfortunate truth is that by contract I cannot work in video games journalism or video games podcasting until July 2011. Twelve months from now. I otherwise still love podcasting, and would likely do it if I could, and who knows, I may very well be convinced to start another Final Fantasy podcast of sorts in July 2011.

In the mean time, as I still have a podcasting itch to scratch, I’ll be doing downloadable audio versions of all my journals. I have no idea if anybody will listen, but I’ll be chronicling my attempt to establish a video game studio, as well as the bits and bobs of my life in general. Just see the sidebar for the links.

So, I’ll keep this short as I have also prepared a number of other pages on this site. Hit the About page to more or less fills in any gaps about me you might be unaware of. Check out the Podcasting page for a look at my podcasting history. Click on the Portfolio page to read over my business exploits. And mosey on over to the Work Bench page to see my action plan, the steps, and my progress so far.

Thanks for dropping by! You can actually subscribe to my audio journals with the links on the right sidebar, check ‘em out if you’re interested!

Best,
Kyle Wynen

    Hey Kyle,

I only really came to know about you through the Final Fantasy Podcast, which is the only Podcast I’ve ever really listened to seeing as Final Fantasy is quite an obsession of mine. I’d just like to congratulate you on all of your success, and I have to say I believe you will be able to found a gaming company – it’s crazy how, at first, I just thought “oh yeah these guys just do some podcast on FF”, and yet now it seems as if one of these guys who “just does a podcast” will now go on to found a gaming company. Of course, nothing is definite in the future, but your recent success so far has been absolutely incredible – what is there to say the guy who just did podcasts won’t go on to be the founder of a giant company?

Congratulations once again, and good luck for the future

    Ben

    • Kyle says:

Hey man, I definitely remember you! My memory may be spotty at times, but it’s not bad xD. And thanks, I hope my “endeavours” work out too!

My chat info is at the bottom of the page, hit me up whenever you want!

      • Jayzee says:

haha sorry for my spelling :( not very good at it because I’m asian haha. Good times at FXN ;) I’ll definitely buy your 1st game when it comes out :D

        • Kyle says:

Oh it’s just the Canadian spelling haha. Just highlighting it because endeavours in itself is an odd word to me xD.

And thanks! I’ll make sure it doesn’t suck xD.

Hey Kyle, just thought I’d throw a comment in even though we talk enough! Best of luck with this!

  6. Andy says:

Hey Kyle, just checking out your site. I’m glad you’re doing so well, and I hope you reach your dreams in the coming years. Good luck.

Also, will you still be a regular on the GU forums? Just curious.

    • Kyle says:

Thanks man, the support is much appreciated.

I’m not sure about being a regular on the GU forums, as I also resigned for another reason. I’ve chosen not to talk about it for the time being, but I’ll give some detail on it at some point I’m sure. No-less, the forums are the best I’ve ever used or helped build.

Good luck Kyle! We’ll miss you over at GU, but I hope you succeed in this career!

  8. Anthony says:

Hey Kyle. What happened to you becoming a pilot?

    • Kyle says:

That’s still on the table, as you need a University degree to join the Canadian Forces pilot program. I found I really enjoy working in business though, so I chose to pursue that. If in the next few years I change my mind or fail at opening a game studio, then the door will still be open to try and be a pilot. I see it as Plan C right now. Plan A is a degree and a studio, Plan B is a degree and some other business aspiration.

  9. Margarita says:

    Hey Kyle!

Just stopping by to say hello and look at your site :P
I gotta say, you got a good thing going here and I’m positive that whatever you set your mind to you can accomplish it. If ya need any help with anything, I’m always around (psst, talented artist here! pick me pick me!) haha

  10. Gabriel Ruiz says:

Hello, ya may know me better as GolbezFarron (my Twitter name), I love the new site, it looks awesome. Is there anything that I, a fan can do to help you or your site out?

    • Kyle says:

Hey man! Hmm, good question! Suggestions and feedback are the first thing that pop into mind. What do you think of the idea of chronicling this goal of mine? Think anyone will actually check it out? And what more do you think I could do with the podcast page?

Beyond feedback, for now I can’t think of anything. As I write journals I’ll likely want to hear people’s opinions on my ideas, so there will be plenty of opportunities to jump in that way. “Kyle, that is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard, for shame!” Stuff like that.. or something positive xD.
